Robert (Robin) Douglas Grant Laing MBE (1938-46) died on 5th May, 2005. Captain John Ambrose Fergusson (Shorty) Lawson (1942-46) died on 25th November, 2005. He was in the XV and the hockey, athletics and boxing teams. Son of Commander Harold Lawson, who was killed when second-in-command of HMS Prince of Wales when she was sunk by Japanese torpedo bombers in 1941, John was called from class to be told of his father’s death. Major P M K Mackellar (1942-46) died on 25th September 2004, at the age of 75. Following the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, his service in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders took him to Korea, where he was wounded, Suez, Cyprus and Borneo. Retiring in the rank of Major in 1984 he then worked for the MoD in London.

James Edward Moir MacArthur (1926-33) of that Ilk, Chief of the Clan Arthur, died on 1st April 2004 at the age of 89. He was a prefect and a keen piper. His undoubted legacy was the successful struggle he led to champion his clan's cause for the right to have a chief recognised by the Lord Lyon King of Arms for the first time since 1771 – he was finally recognised as Chief of the Clan in 2002.
