Loretto School is delighted that this year’s A Level results saw pupils achieve a 98% pass rate, with A*-A grades in 90% of subjects.
In particular, 100% of the grades achieved in Modern Foreign Languages (French, German and Spanish) were within the A*-C boundary – including 100% A*-A in French.
BTEC pupils celebrated a 100% pass rate, with 79% of pupils achieving Distinction*- Merit grades across all BTEC subjects.
Loretto is also very proud to offer EPQs (Extended Project Qualifications) and 64% of this year’s pupils achieved A*-A grades across their wide-ranging topics.
These results see pupils take up places at UK universities such as Oxford, St Andrews, Durham and Loughborough, to name a few, and international destinations such as Maastricht University in the Netherlands, Esade Business & Law School in Spain and High Point University in North Carolina, USA.
Head of Loretto, Pete Richardson, shared his thoughts:
'Looking down the list of results achieved by this year's Upper Sixth, individuals who are known so well within the school, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to every single pupil. These results reflect the dedication, resilience and hard work you have displayed over the past two years of study and beyond, and we wish you well as you prepare to take the next step in your exceptional lives.
Life at Loretto is about more than simply education, it's also about ensuring that every pupil leaves school real-world ready. As well as celebrating these results, we also celebrate the compassionate and kind individuals who are now heading out into the world. I applaud the Upper Sixth and extend my thanks to our staff for their role in nurturing and guiding every pupil on their individual journey. This year's leavers are a tenacious group who are sure to make a success of their futures and I wish them every success in their next chapter.'
GCSE results saw similar success, with over one quarter being graded 9-7 (A*-A) and 89% of grades within the 9-4 boundary (A*-C).
Pete continued, ‘Whilst there are some fantastic individual performances, I celebrate the achievements of all GCSE pupils and thank the staff who have supported and expertly guided them.
I am especially proud of our English and Mathematics results, which are considerably above the national average. Further, I am delighted with our pupils’ results in all other subjects, from the arts to the sciences.
I look forward to welcoming these pupils back into our community as members of our Sixth Form and watching them continue on their Loretto journeys.’
Loretto knows that creating exceptional lives involves so much more than nurturing academic ability alone, and this is why the school always focuses on mind, body and spirit. However, it is absolutely right that we celebrate the academic achievements of these pupils and applaud the character, commitment and resilience that their successful results required.
