For our latest OL Spotlight we're delighted to feature
William MacGregor (2005), Diagnostic Radiographer in the NHS and Lecturer in Diagnostic Imaging at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Q1. What led to you becoming a radiographer? "I wanted to help people, give back to society, and I wanted a protected professional career with growth and development that keeps me continually learning."
Q2. What do you enjoy most about lecturing at GCU?“I love helping students and equipping them with the knowledge to handle even the most challenging of trauma situations. Seeing them grow and excel is extremely rewarding.”
Q3. What advice would you give to current Lorettonians?
“Take time to figure out what YOU want to do. There is no 'right' thing apart from your passions, so don't be influenced by others!”
Q4. What’s next for you?
“I am in the home stretch of my third degree (MSc Advanced Practice). My ongoing goal is to create a training programme to transform mentoring across NHS Scotland for Radiographers.”
William’s time at Loretto:“The ethos of 'effort put in' has always stuck with me, from my tutor Mr James Burnet. Determination and perseverance, even in the face of challenging attainment, pays off in the end. He pushed me to try hard, and I still do.”
