Doddie Aid is a charity that aims to raise awareness and encourage people to be active in January by logging the number of miles they cover.
Doddie Weir was a former Scotland rugby player who sadly succumbed to Motor Neurone Disease. Whilst he was battling the disease, he created a foundation to fund research into new treatments, raise awareness of the lack of funding, and provide financial support to families affected by the disease.
The foundation continues with this mission and, every January, Doddie Aid runs a virtual mass-participation exercise event.
Loretto has once again created a community league for Doddie Aid 2025 and we encourage as many OLs as possible to join pupils, staff and parents in supporting this fantastic charity. Last year saw 185 people sign up and, collectively, we raised over £3,000.
Once you've signed up and downloaded the app, simply search for 'Loretto Community' to join our league. From there, you'll be able to log how many miles you cover in whichever format you clock them - walking the dog, cycling, playing golf etc.
If you're keen to sign up, you can do so through the following link. You are asked to make a £20 donation to join the league but, in exchange for doing so and supporting the charity, you will receive a snood.
