This year’s Annual Dinner was held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh on Friday 23rd February and it was, as always, a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We say evening... a group of leavers from 1984 started in the afternoon with a gathering in the Festival Pub!
One of the best things about our OL events is that they bring together OLs from various decades and we always like to note the age gap between the youngest and
oldest wisest. This year's age gap was an impressive sixty-nine years, bookended by
Denis D. Muir (1954) and
Evelyn J. Watson (2023), and it was lovely to see so many OLs socialising and reminiscing.
Speaking of Evelyn, we thank her once again for putting her fantastic photography skills to use and being our resident photographer on the night!
We were also delighted to welcome Loretto’s Heads of School,
Bethwell G (2024) and
Olivia F (2024). They both gave short speeches and spoke wonderfully about life at Loretto, what it means to them to be a Lorettonian, and the impact Dr & Mrs Hawley have had on both them and the School throughout their tenure.
We also thank Chaplain
Ed Barker (Hon.) for saying grace and our President
Graham R. Burns (1992) for his entertaining post-dinner speech.
It was a fantastic evening and we are already looking forward to the next!
