OL Spotlight - Cameron Sword (2020)
Thursday 25th May 2023
For our first ‘OL Spotlight’ feature we’re delighted to feature Cameron Sword (2020), part owner of this year’s Grand National winner Corach Rambler.Q1. How did it feel to watch Corach Rambler win?“It was a feeling of disbelief and amazement of what the horse and jockey had achieved. It was the most special day of my life, surrounded by people I have shared some very special moments with and an overwhelming feeling of pride and happiness for all involved from the stable staff and trainers to the jockey and the breeder.”Q2. What’s the best thing about owning a racehorse?“The opportunity to be involved in a sport at the top level, from phone calls and discussions about which races to place a horse in, being at the stables and speaking to the jockeys and more recently being at the sales surrounded by the biggest players in this game.”Q3. What’s next for you?“On the 26th of May 2023 I am launching Claymore Racing, a syndication management company focused on affordable ownership through micro shares. I am just back from the Cheltenham May Sales where Lucinda Russell, Peter Scudamore, Paul McIvor (bloodstock agent) and myself purchased the first horse ‘King of Answers’. Having had many special days in racing, doing a bit of TV work and meeting people within racing I plan to combine my passion for horse racing and my degree to create a business within the sport.”Cameron’s time at Loretto:“I have very fond memories of my time at Loretto, I was a sports fanatic playing rugby, hockey, and golf at first team level, highlighted by winning the Scottish Hockey Senior Schools Cup in 2020. My reason for entering the world of horse racing was due to the opportunity to be involved in professional sport after leaving school.”
